Jeitun has given its name to the whole Neolithic period in the foothills of the Kopet Dag. Джейтун дал свое название всему неолитическому периоду в предгорьях Копет-Дага.
Jeitun was discovered by A. A. Marushchenko and has been excavated since the 1950s by B. A. Kuftin and V. M. Masson. Джейтун был открыт А. А. Марущенко в 1940-е годы, и был раскопан с 1950-х годов Б. А. Куфтиным и В. М. Массоном.
